GUIDOR® easy-graft® CLASSIC Alloplastic Bone Grafting System

The first particulate bone grafting material designed to be syringed directly into a bone defect, hardening into a stable, porous scaffold in approximately one minute and eliminating the need for a dental membrane in many cases.

Material Composition

GUIDOR® easy-graft® CLASSIC Alloplastic Bone Grafting System is a complete system that helps clinicians provide more predictable clinical results. Each system is comprised of β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) granules coated with a biodegradable polymer called poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA). that are mixed with N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) liquid activator called BioLinker® to form a permeable, moldable material which hardens to form a stable, porous scaffold.

GUIDOR® <i>easy-graft</i>® is comprised of coated granules in a syringe and a liquid activator that is mixed for easy placement.

Step 1: The system contains BioLinker® and β-TCP granules with polymer coating.
Step 2: When mixed, BioLinker softens the polymer coating creating a sticky surface that can be compressed and shaped.
Step 3: BioLinker is flushed out of the material when in contact with body fluids.
Step 4: GUIDOR easy-graft hardens in approximately one minute into a stable, porous scaffold of interconnected granules.

Granule Porosity

The porous nature of the material used in GUIDOR® easy-graft® CLASSIC Alloplastic Bone Grafting System is a key factor for bone regeneration.

Spherical granules of GUIDOR® easy-graft® are beta-TCP coated with PLGA.

To ensure a comprehensive, intact pore system is retained, each pressure-resistant granule is designed to not fragment or crumble during application.

Macroporosity of GUIDOR® easy-graft® formed from spaces between each pressure-resistant granule. Macroporosity of GUIDOR easy-graft material1: Subsequent to mixing and dispensing GUIDOR easy-graft material, macropores will exist in the spaces between the round, pressure-resistant granules. These larger pores provide space for the formation of new bone and the development of blood vessels.
GUIDOR® easy-graft® granules are openly microporous with total porosity of 70%. Microporosity of GUIDOR easy-graft material1: GUIDOR easy-graft material is openly microporous with a total porosity of approximately 70%. When viewing the SEM image, the microporous nature of this bone graft appears as dark areas within each granule. Studies have shown fully microporous calcium phosphates (pore size 1 μm to 10 μm) provide increased osteoconductivity and bone formation in comparison with materials without micropores.2,3

Resorption

GUIDOR® easy-graft® CLASSIC Alloplastic Bone Grafting System is designed to offer complete resorption via physiological dissolution and cell based mechanisms in 5-15 months, depending upon biological and medical factors. The resorption of the GUIDOR easy-graft (A) occurs in parallel to new bone (B) formation. In the human histology, the granule of GUIDOR easy-graft (A) is no longer spherical in shape as the material resorbs. At the same time, new bone (B) forms and appears to invade the accessible space.4

Indications

GUIDOR® easy-graft® CLASSIC Alloplastic Bone Grafting System is indicated for the treatment of intraoral/maxillofacial osseous defects. Dental and maxillofacial indications may include:

  • Extraction defects (alveolar ridge preservation)
  • Periodontal defects
  • Peri-implant defects
  • Augmentation of deficient alveolar crest (e.g. Guided Bone Regeneration, GBR)
  • Sinus floor augmentation
  • Defects after surgical extractions
  • Defects after removal of bone cysts
  • Defects after root resection or apicoectomy
  • Defects after removal of autologous bone

Contraindications

GUIDOR® easy-graft® CLASSIC Alloplastic Bone Grafting System should not be used in pregnant or nursing women.

Possible Adverse Effects

Possible adverse reactions associated with the use of the device include: eye, respiratory and skin irritation.
